Artillery Park: Limbers

 

I've designed a limber capable of towing each of the two models of cannons made by Brickpanda. 

Here it is towing the smallest gun (which I like to think of as an eight pounder):


And here comes an identical limber attached to the biggest gun (maybe a twelve pounder):



The chest on the limber contains six rounds of ammunition for the gun.

Dragoons of the Imperial Guard

  Napoleon added dragoons to his Imperial Guard in 1806. Soon Empress Joséphine became the godmother of the unit which would therefore also be known under the nickname "Dragoons of the Empress". Farrier The Dragoons of the Imperial Guard wore green coats like the ordinary dragoon regiments but the white lapels were unique to the Guard's dragoons. Like their colleagues of the Horse Grenadiers , dragoon troopers wore a pair of yellow contre-epaulettes. Foot Dragoons

  Here comes a troop of Foot Dragoons entering a wood. Ordinary dragoons were supposed to be able to fight either on horseback or on foot. But on several occasions during the First French Empire, the difficulty finding enough horses forced Napoleon to dismount a few regiments of dragoons who became, for a time, infantrymen. The Foot Dragoons would retain their helmet, uniform and weapons (a cavalryman's straight long sword and a musket and bayonet) and would wear an infantry backpack. Although not technically part of the Imperial Guard, some Foot Dragoon regiments were attached to the Guard for a short time. Sappers, minus their horses, would accompany Foot Dragoon companies, just as they did mounted regiments. Below is such a sapper clearing a fallen tree for an officer lucky enough to have retained his horse. Artillery Park: Sling Cart and Cannon Cart

  Ending this short series of posts on redesigned artillery vehicles, here come the sling cart and cannon cart. On the sling cart I've mainly recoloured some elements, and for the cannon cart, I've changed the way it's attached to horses; now like in the original model of cannon cart from the Roussillon region of France, the horses (however many - two, three or more - are used to tow the cart) are attached in a single row and not in pairs side by side.
